  • Sadly os2museum is offline right now. I want to know why he calls it like this. Michal is a great computer-historian, but if he just "invented" this numbering scheme by himself it is nothing official and shouldn't be used. Rather using ".... 4.00 f…
  • But some of the lithium family are meant to burn when they get deep discharged. After two-three years in a drawer every li-cell is empty by self-discharging. I already had a iphone 4 getting a big belly in my pocket.
  • I actually never used Lattice C, but I used Microsoft C 2 for compiling an old 8086 "microcontroller" firmware. This was incredibly slow - I thought it was because of using emulators, so I installed Windows 3.1, DOS and MSC on my 386 box ... and it…

  • IIRC there are xcopy and other DOS tools located somewhere on the Windows CD - the stuff that the "rescue-floppy" is made from while running setup.
  • Guest Additions will only work with win 2000 or later. For video drivers you can use scitech display doctor vesa drivers and for shared folders you can set up networking with normales shared drives/folders.
  • @win32 said: It works on Windows 98SE too. https://msfn.org/board/topic/141012-window-98se-virtual-pc-510-question/ I have it running on a Pentium 3/900 with 128MB of RAM and it is surprisingly fast. I use it for some experiments w…
  • Thank you very much!!
  • [[[ I took screenshots, but here is no attach button. So I post this senseless comment, go to forum, edit this and add the pictures. ]]] @SomeGuy I took a bunch of screenshots, hopefully you got enough time to add them. This demo looks awesome …
  • Comparing it to later 3d-software is crazy. 16MB ram required, of which Win95 definitely will eat 8MB or more. Sure, it will be slow as hell when swapping to disk all the time, but what else (later) 3d-stuff is happy with 16mb?
  • @win32 said: This flew under the radar. I couldn't find any information about it, just the unrelated Dimension CC product that was introduced about two years ago. Here you go: https://www.google.com/search?client=falkon&ei=aIBkXLewB62…
  • I also recommend qemu. Maybe change "-M pc" to "-M isapc". @ubuntuxp said: I've had success with QEMU, just make sure the emulated hardware is from that time period. Here's my launcher shell script as a reference: #!/bin/bash qemu-syste…

  • Yeah, I agree with you on that. My school has done pretty much everything to their network due to abuse by certain students. And Facebook has actually been the most recent site blocked by my school. I'm not saying I "hate" school web filters, I do t…
  • I have a printed manual for 4.0 from 1990 that came with a PS/2 machine. This manual only says 4.0, there is no 4.02, 4.03 or something else. If you need further information (exact publishing date etc.) I'll dig it out of my pile of stuff and hav…
  • @Spaceboy Ross said: I had archived it to archive.org but it failed in the middle of the night, when I get home after school I'll fix it and post the link. Yeah, this is annoying shit. Thanks for uploading!!

  • We already had teacher's spying-software in early 2000s. The theacher was able to watch every single pupil's screen, without notice to the pupil. There were some parents complaining about privacy and there must be a notice/popup if watched. The s…

  • Open source projects will only be archived if these are of historic relevance. IIRC there is FreeBSD 1.0 already here. SomeGuy is the only uploader for this place and he already has a big big todo list. Also he has a very slow internet connection…

  • DMF is not like 2.88MB. If you have a 2.88MB drive, you also need a 2.88MB disk. This is nothing special, these boards will read it for sure. DMF is some kind of "squeezing a few k more into 1.44MB".

  • First try resetting BIOS to defaults. Maybe an IDE channel is disabled or something like that. I wouldn't expect a BIOS upgrade will help, as it was recognized before. There must be something odd with the drive, the settings or (at worst) the contr…
  • Haha, thats funny! Sadly people still haven't learned about snake-oil. Almost everyone has such bullsh*t-apps on their phones and think it would speed up the system if they press on a button every 30 minutes. Try to explain them that a advance…
  • At my grandmothers house, windows 98, then upgraded to Vista. That computer was upgraded to Vista? How is that possible? Please, do tell me if you can. I bought a Athlob 1400/512MB in 2002 with Windows 98SE. In theory i…
