■ Basic Operations (Menu) ■ |
Explanation of the menu.
Bold parts are examples of convenient usage.
Edit
[Continuous Select]
Selects all points, lines, and faces connected to the currently selected lines and points.
If only part of the outer perimeter is selected, only the outer perimeter is selected.
Also, if only faces are selected, only the points and lines that make up those faces are selected.
[Continuous Line Select]
Selects lines continuously.
Stops selection when the line branches or hits the edge of a face.
Can select effectively for cylindrical shapes, etc.
[Select by Color]
Selects faces of the same color as the currently selected color.
Used when selecting color-coded objects or when repainting colors.
[Select Three-Line Faces]
Selects faces enclosed by lines that have 3 or more faces on one line.
If faces are applied inside the object, you can delete those faces all at once.
[Select Independent Lines]
Selects lines that are not touching any faces.
After deleting faces, you can select and delete unnecessary lines all at once.
Process
[Merge to One Point]
Merges multiple points into a single point.
[Merge Approximate Points]
Merges points that are close in distance into a single point.
The distance at which points are merged is the distance at which points overlap on the screen, so you can change the merge distance by zooming.
[Merge Identical Points]
Merges only points that are completely at the same position.
Unlike [Merge Approximate Points], there is no difference in behavior due to zoom.
[Release Symmetric Points]
Turns symmetric points into asymmetric points.
Used when creating asymmetric objects after creating part of it with symmetric points, etc.
[Create Symmetric Points]
You can turn asymmetric points into symmetric points.
When loading a symmetric object from another file format,
deleting only half and executing [Create Symmetric Points]
allows you to work with them as symmetric points.
[Draw Lines Between Symmetric Points]
Draws lines between symmetric points.
Lines are not drawn from points that are not on the outer perimeter of faces.
[Move Points onto Line]
Moves points that are on a line onto a straight line.
Used when you want to arrange diagonal lines that cannot be done with [Align Horizontally], etc.
[Place on Grid]
Moves points to the grid.
Grid values and axis settings are configured from [Window] > [Grid Placement Settings].
[Random Move]
Moves points randomly.
Movement values and axis settings are configured from [Window] > [Random Move Settings].
[Create Pipe]
Applies faces around a line to create a pipe-shaped surface.
If the line has branches, the pipe is not created well.
When applied to a looping line,
partially twisted parts may occur.
After creation, you can adjust the radius to some extent by moving in the normal direction.
Pipe segment count and radius settings are configured from [Window] > [Pipe Creation Settings].
[Continuous Face Split]
Continuously splits faces.
Used by selecting lines.
When it hits a triangular polygon or the edge of a face, splitting ends there.
This continuous face split always splits from the center of the line, but if you set continuous face split to Alt + Shift or Alt + Shift + Ctrl in the settings, you can split from arbitrary locations. Use them according to the purpose.
[Continuous Face Join]
Continuously joins faces.
Used by selecting lines.
For irregular shapes, it may sometimes have no effect.
Currently, if you select multiple lines at once and use it, it may not work, so in such cases select and use lines one by one.
[Face Split]
Adds a point at the centroid of the polygon and splits the face.
[Triangulate]
Splits a quadrilateral polygon into two triangular polygons.
[Quadrangulate]
Joins two triangular polygons into a quadrilateral polygon.
If the polygon colors, normals, or UVs differ, they are not joined.
[Delete Points on Line]
Deletes points that are on lines that do not form faces.
With normal deletion the line disappears, but here only the points are deleted and the line remains.
[Align Horizontally][Align Vertically][Align Depth]
Aligns the coordinates of selected points.
[Hide]
Temporarily hides points, lines, and faces. While hidden, they cannot be selected until [Show] is used.
[Hide Unselected]
Hides unselected points, lines, and faces.
[Show]
Displays hidden points, lines, and faces.
[Make Template]
Temporarily makes points into templates. Lines and faces surrounded by templated points are hidden. While hidden, they cannot be selected until [Release Template] is used.
Similar to [Hide], but here you cannot directly hide lines and faces.
[Make Unselected Template]
Makes unselected points into templates.
[Release Template]
Returns templated points to normal.
[Clear UV]
Sets the UV values of selected faces to 0.
Used when quadrangulation is not possible, etc.
Fill Faces
[Fill All Faces]
Fills all possible faces with the specified color.
Does not overpaint where faces are already filled.
Faces are only filled on triangular and quadrilateral parts.
[Fill Selection]
Fills faces in the range of selected points.
Does not overpaint where faces are already filled.
Faces are only filled on triangular and quadrilateral parts.
[Overpaint Faces]
Repaints selected faces.
Used when changing palette colors or textures without changing UV.
[Delete Faces]
Deletes selected faces.
With normal deletion points and lines are also deleted, but here only faces are deleted.
[Flip Normals]
Flips the normals of selected faces.
[Unify Normals]
Unifies the direction of normals. It only unifies and does not consider direction, so if everything is facing the back, manually flip the normals. (When selecting, continuous select is convenient.)
Options
[System Settings]
Configures system settings such as drawing colors and startup settings.
[Format-Specific Settings]
Configures load and export settings per file format.
[Shortcut Key Settings]
You can freely assign shortcuts for the menu and toolbar.
When assigning shortcuts to the menu, depending on the key the assigned key may not be displayed in the menu, but the assignment is actually performed.
[Utilities]
You can align texture file paths and smoothing angles, etc.
Used when paths are off after moving texture files or loading files from other formats, etc.
Display
[Wireframe Display] [Faces Only Display] [Display All]
Switches the display method.
Use according to the purpose.
[Texture Display]
Toggles texture display on/off.
[Light Display]
Toggles light display on/off.
When off, everything is displayed in light colors and differences in brightness due to angle disappear.
[Smoothing Display]
Toggles smoothing display on/off.
[Specular Display]
Toggles specular highlight display on/off.
[Display Textures Nicely] [Display Background Images Nicely]
Displays textures and background images nicely respectively.
Displaying nicely can take time for drawing depending on the environment,
so set according to your environment.
[No Alpha] [Alpha Punch] [Alpha Punch (Translucent)]
Switches alpha display.
Translucent display takes a very long time for drawing,
so it may be better to use it only for checking.
With translucent display, flickering can occur depending on the state of faces.
[Axis Handle Display] [Hidden Line Display] [Dummy Face Display] [Grid Display]
Toggles each display respectively.
Use according to the work.
[Edge Display]
Displays outline lines, etc.
In [Options] > [System Settings], you can set line thickness and whether to display lines.
It is more of an extra feature.
[Parallel Projection]
Toggles perspective on/off.
Use according to the work.
[Double-Sided Display]
Toggles whether polygons are displayed double-sided or single-sided.
Used when smoothing results are strange, or to check if normal directions are correct, etc.
[Display Background Image]
Toggles background image display on/off.
[Draw with OpenGL]
Draws using OpenGL.
Normally the setting to use OpenGL is fine.
Others
[Initialize Background Image Position]
Returns the background image position to the origin.
[Switch Pivot Position]
Switches the pivot position between centroid and center.
[Initialize Sub Windows Position]
Initializes the positions of all Sub Windows.
Used when Sub Windows have gone off-screen after using in a different environment, etc.
[Copy Palette] [Paste Palette]
Copies and pastes the palette between windows.
Used when you want to work partially in a separate window, etc.
Note that it is not copy/paste of individual colors, but copy/paste of the entire palette in that file.
[Reload Selected Palette Texture] [Reload All Palette Textures]
Reloads texture files.
Used when you have edited texture files and want to reflect them on the screen.
[Move Whole so Pivot is at Origin]
Moves the object so that the pivot position that appears when selected is at the origin.
Used when you want the object's pivot at the origin in other software.
By selecting the bottom of the object and using it, you can place the object at Y=0.
