Windows NT 3.5 installation problems!

edited January 2007 in Software
Shit...
I have installed Windows NT 3.5 on a Pentium 4 ,128MB RAM PC
When the setup is running on the Test-Only Mode, everything is fine.
Til the setup restarts the machine and change to the Graphical mode.
There is a dialog box on the screen and it says
"Setup cannot runs on the current processor."

And then it restarts the machine. The installation was failed.
I was really fucked. And I wondered how can I solve this problem...

Thx a lot!

  • Maybe you should try to install NT4 to get more out of that processor... Or install Windows/Linux and run it in VMWare if you really want it on that PC.

  • A Pentium 4 should run nothing under Windows 2000 but if you must install 3.5x, I'm fairly sure there is a patch that fixes a bug with newer CPUs because that is a common problem.
  • There is, if you give me a few hours I can email it too you. But I think the downlaods section may have it? not too sure about that one tho.
  • I thought the patch was in the NT 3.5 distribution that's on WW?

  • When I last downloaded it it did.
  • Well it's probably a different file or the patch wasn't installed correctly.

The patch was origionally designed for Pentium IIs so I can't promise anything about Pentium 4s but it SHOULD work either way since alot of people have been using it on stuff like that.
