(Free/Open/Net)BSD winmodem support?

Do any of the BSDs (or any opensource unix) have any better/worse winmodem support than linux? The specific modem is an "Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem". I can't get this damn thing to work under FC3 with any of the drivers I've tried.

    its always the same driver, however, try, ubuntu or slax for a quick fix and how could it work.

    Well FC3 is the biggest POS Linux distro there is, so go figure.

    All the Redhat derived ones I have had problems with. (Includes Fedora and CentOS)
