I can use the wireless card in my desktop as a sort of booster for my wireless signal?

  • Booster as in repeater? because depending on the type of card yes you can as long as you set it to be a base station all traffic would forward to that and then onto your destination. Or as in actual reapter mode which some support which acts the same way as a base station. However would be better suited some where in between where you are and the access point/router/gateway is located.
  • I know that some drivers contain utilities that allow you to do certain things like that, and more. What is your wireless card?
  • Safecom 802.11g. It's some lame cheapass card I got for like
  • Repositioning your aireal on your wirelss router/switch to a more downward angle may help with the signal reception, if that is how your system is setup.
  • Um. How will that help. Aren't antennae omni-directional?
  • Yea, but if the broad end is horizontal, then anything on that side is goingt o have a much stronger signal than usual.
