windows nt 3.1 dosnt have divers for ide atapi 1.2 cd-rom but windows nt 3.5 does does anyone know where i could get these drivers for windows nt 3.1 thanks
yea that was a problem since no real drivers were out for the NT system at that time, DOS based os's were in the limelight. There SHOULD be a couple of IDE Cd drives out there, if i remeber it was a samsung one, it should work with any cd drive.
Maybe this will work
I'm not posting any more links, just go to the CD ROM manufacturers download pages, they all have some kind of support if you select their oldest drives.
Better: Someone has taken advantage of NT 3.1s development kits and produced an atapi.sys (legacy mode) for the following builds:
NT 3.10 Build 297 with source and compiler/link automated batch file + CD-ROM ISO test image:
NT 3.10 Build 340 with source:
NT 3.10 Build 511 with source (also works on 404 and 438) + Floppy Disk image for driver installation during the Text-based setup:
....and made it available at beta archive. Unfortunately, those original links are dead, but once again, archie.org to the rescues (someone uploaded them !):
"Note2: for NT 3.10 Build 511+ (includes 528 and the Japanese checked 531) you need scsicdrm.sys and scsiport.sys from 438 otherwise you will have a hard time with CD-ROM images smaller than 150MB. No patch is required on setupapp.exe in this version of the driver."
I've extracted those 2 files and attached them to this post.
