Modifying laptop cooling...

OK, This system is currently setup like this:


Theres a Pentium M with Arctic Silver on it underneath one of these:

On the bottom of the case, theres little vents where that heatpipe runs, I'm assuming its designed that way to allow more air to travel over them but that little plastic things got to stop some cooling from happpening... would anyone recommend peeling that off?

    Probably not if your description is how I'm imagining it. (this is the one with a bad fan you mentioned in another post isn't it?) Usually litlle plastic coverings are there to prevent damgae and so forth, happening but to allow air in for the system to breath. Could you try and get a replacemtn fan from somewhere if this is the bust fan?

    things are tehre for a reason, its probably to protect thats all.

    OK -- NOW I have an Acer Aspire One with a similar situation.. awful cooling. Its literally just a flat sheet of metal that a fan blows past..

    I'm considering cutting and arctic silver-ing an old small 486 heatsink, or some RAM heatsink into there...


    Has anyone tried changing the cooling on one of these Intel Atoms?
