Help With ABIT TH7-RAID motherboard [solved]

edited January 2016 in Hardware
i have a ABIT TH7-RAID motherboard i need the drivers, i had a driver disk but i accidentally spilled a bit of acetone on it i think i can get it resurface at lest i hop so i tried googling the driver but all i get is TH7ii-RAID
i know it a intel 850 MCH chipset it a socket 423 and uses RIMMA ram or as RAMBUS and APG is 4x
you know what the sad part is i got this new 8 years ago at a church sale i held on it for 8 years till i got a cpu, heat sink and ram for it
i was doing a reinstall of windows 2000 cause something broke and then the accident happened lucky i don't have to redo windows 98 too. i got it set up to duel boot 98se and 2000
you also may noticed that it looks like i took sandpaper to it, well i did, it looked a lot worse before i did a bit of sanding on it

  • I think I've found drivers for this motherboard with the help of the specifications of it from the manual. I've tried to make sure these were as accurate as possible and these were the safest and legit sources, But I was rushing so there's a chance I may have gotten something wrong, If you need to look again, Here's the specs.

The Audio Controller is an Avance A97 Codec, The RAID controller is a Highpoint HPT370, and The Network Controller is an Intel 82559.

    RAID Driver:http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/1964/
    LAN Driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/22/Intel-82559ER-Fast-Ethernet-Controller
    Audio Driver: http://download.cnet.com/Avance-AC-97-Driver-for-VIA-Audio-Controller/3000-2110_4-149480.html

NOTE: You must click on "Direct Download Link" when downloading the audio driver. The CNET installer is not compatible with Windows 98 and 2000.

thanks i thought i'll never find these, but the sound driver keeps giving me Cannot Update ALC Device but i went and found the chipset drivers and it installed the sound driver witch it says intel 82801BA/BAM '97 Audio Controller - 2445 and the network drivers are doing the same thing it says there is no Adapter but on the list it shows the Intel PRO/100+ witch is what my Network Card is

update: it turns out after looking up Avance AC'97 that the sound drivers are not Avance AC'97 but a Realtek AC'97 seems everything is working now, thanks again

  • ok so i decided to update the sound drivers for windows 98 and they installed but in device manager the sound card wont work in the Device status it says The NTKERN.VXD and MMDEVLDR.VDX device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver. (Code 2)

To fix this, click Update Driver to update the device driver

i did this 3 times and even went in the system folder to replace the 2 files

i'm at a lost is there somthing els i'm missing? the drivers working fine in 2000 and on the page it say it's for 98se so i dont know

Windows 98Gold/98se/Me/2000/XP/2003(32/64 bits) for Driver only. For Windows 98 SE, DirectX(R)8 is required to enable advanced features. (Executable file)

According to this Microsoft KB article, you are supposed to remove these two lines in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
    SET windir=C:\WINDOWS
    SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS

thous lines are not there the only thing that's in there is somethinf to do with my ati card
there ant even a AUTOEXEC.BAT i had to make one i have a feeling that my 98 install is some how not working right
there was an AUTOEXEC.doc but i deleted that

i think ill just go for a reinstall
  • welp after a days worth of messing around i came to a conclusion that the drivers on Realteks site for 98 are broken junk so i looked for a bit and i found older drivers on Intel site and they seem to work fine
