Os\2 installation error messege

I am trying to install OS\2 warp 4.0 on my IBM thinkpad t22 which supports OS\2 every time I put the diskette labeled "DISK 02" in my thinkpad it gives me an error message saying os\2 is unable to read my floppy or hard disk , granted i am using a USB floppy disk drive and a relatively old hardisk an IBM travel star 6.5 gig but even if i boot from a disk that i converted from floppy to cd it gives me the same message any one know how to fix this problem

    You need a real floppy drive connected to a real FDC to load OS/2 from floppy.

    With something like Windows 9x or NT I would suggest copying the floppies to a hard drive, but I don't recall that is possible with OS/2.

    You might consider pulling the hard drive and performing the install using another machine.

    is it possible to install it from pc dos and if not give me a step by step how to install it using another machine
