98SE on a older Thin Client. HP T5135

I am interested in trying to add Win98SE, to a HP T5135 adding the drive needed for the space
doesn't seem to be the problem, I can not however yet been able to get the client to USB boot for 98
so could attempt it. The specs are a 400Mhz 128MB RAM 64MB FLASH, with and added laptop drive
but not there yet as booting that OS seems tricky. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • USB boot? 98? I have doubts that would work. CD Booting in that era was brand new...

If you have another 9x / dos era PC that you could put the drive in, you could use the sys command to copy the system to the drive, then dump the contents of the 98 installer to a directory on that drive and run setup from there once it's back into the HP. Actually, if memory serves, this was even doable in XP.
