Well, I tried the 8.5 a couple years ago & it was unstable as hell which I thought was quite bizarre for such a long-standing Japanese company...
I use the 9.2 version which is very stable it came out in 2009 & also it was the first version of any 3D software package to have parallax bump mapping because the inventor of it was, wait for it... JAPANESE!!!
Other major hitters have also now included parallax bump mapping but took them awhile... Every bit as good a normal mapping...
For me the 8.5.1 was a medicated EXE not a serial & I thought that might be a cause of the instability. I would retain the original EXE rather than overwrite it>>>

The company refused to give me a serial even though I bought the mag with it on. Blatant ignorance! So I have 8.5 but no serial to activate it!
