important dll files missing.

hey all, I tried installing windows 98 SE that i downloaded from the Winworld website, when after installing it throws me "the shell32.dll is linked to missing export shlwapi.dll:tFileAttributesA." error, I tried manually extracting the required dll files to no progress. I even made sure the ram and CPU were sufficient and unsurprisingly it still doesn't work. any ideas or fixes would be amazing.

ALSO may I add I am unable to enter the desktop due to these issues so I can't fix it that way.

    also i may try and take the dll files from a copy of win ME and see if that solves the issue.

    That error normally occurs when someone has incorrectly mix and matched components of Windows 98 and Windows 95, or has installed an application that requires Windows 98 or the IE shell on Windows 95.

    I suggest starting over, making sure the hard drive or drive image is completely blank, before installing Windows.

    Hey, thanks for the reply. I've created a fresh blank virtual drive; I did this 3 times, even creating a whole new VM. (VirtualBox) with the same error occurring again. i may try the install in VMWare instead and see if it's just a issue with the ISO or the VM.

    I may also try updating to 98 from 95 and hope the dll files transfer over.
