XP firewall confusion...

does anyone know why i cant access my site but other ppl can?

i finnaly got XP to foward ports, but when i type my ip in the adress bar it says "acess denied" but when i got someone else to do it they got through. this also worked throgh a proxy...

any ideas?

    Try using your computer name instead of localhost or 127.0.0.1, OR the network adapter's IP. Wait.... What Ip are you trying to access it from?

    i can do it like that but when i type bod.alturl.com it says access denied

    Try from:

    127.0.0.1
    192.168.x.x (The local one)
    Your external IP
    Your external DNS

    And add whatever port # you're using if it isn't 80.

    heh, I just turned off the firewall, and told the security center to pay attention to nothing.

    cos them im without a firewall

    it works wiht evrything except my external ip and dns

    EDIT: this is so retarded, im having to use a proxy to access my own site!!

    Umm, Security Center does NOT need to be on for Windows Firewall to work I don't think...

    i dont really wanna take any chances....

    ok i turned off the LAN's firewall (which is on for some reason) but i still can access my server from my external IP or DNS

    If you don't want to take chances, get ZoneAlarm and DITCH WINDOWS FIREWALL.

    Did you forward the required ports (80, or something else if your ISP is poor).

    ive got 80, 21, 443, 110, 25 and 5800 fowarded

    and zonealarm doesnt work with ICS

    And when you type in 80.43.183.158 into Ffx what does it say?

    Try running the serverer on port 85.

    Try getting a friend with the same ISP to contact it.

    nope im getting one in the next week or so i hope....

    i dont know anyone with the same ISP as me... but ive gotten a few ppl to look at it thru IM and they dont have any problems, when i ran a site off my laptop i could access it
