CD Drive problems

edited January 2005 in Hardware
Everytime I try to boot a CD, it refuses to boot. I have all the settings set in BIOS to boot from the ATAPI CD-ROM drive. I put my QuickRestore CD in and reboot the computer. And everytime, the CD does not boot. It either hangs or reboots on its own. This is all happening on my Compaq Presario 1210 laptop.

ANOTHER PROBLEM: The cd-rom refuses to read the complete CD. I have a multi-session CD and it sometimes either reads the whole cd, reads only the first track (session), or reads the whole CD with problems after track 1.

Please help me out with these problems. Thank you.

  • Easiest? Well, I think so, but maybe we can think of something else that can really help?

Hardware costs money. Think of it.

T4, try to clean your drive with a cleaning disk.
  • a CD drive is less than a meal at mcdonalds these days
  • Probably. I've never been to mcdonalds because thats too expensive
  • Which was his point ;)

Yeah, I'd try to clean it, I think that's your best chance
A laptop CD would be expensive I think.

  • And the burger is crap anyway...
  • The food's alright on a run... but most of the time I'd rather have other stuff... the fries and shakes are good though... kinda hard to screw them up...

  • WoW that's cheap for milk. Is it any good?
