  • uh, did you install the vmadditions first? you need them to run x.
  • no I didn't do that....
  • try that first as root.
  • vmware and vpc use shitty video drivers that arent compatable with shit without the additions.
  • See why I dont like VMWare? :P I got Linspire working the first time I tried in VPC 5...
  • VMware is fine for what I use it for, which is ReactOS testing.

PS. And Linspire I think of as the newbie Linux flav, there are FAR better ones (RH, SuSE) out there.

you should install VMware tools first ( VM -> VMware tools)
it will set an ISO with VM tools as a CD-ROM
    mount it using `mount -t /dev/cdrom`
go to the dir you have mounted cdrom on and copy the archive to the disk
unpack it and run the script which is in it

particular!: set OS in VMware - Linux
  • i had a problem getting into gui mode in slackware when i 1st got it (i used it in VPC and on my laptop) and i just had to use the startx command to get into gui.
  • That's Slackware's default config, to not start X.
  • you have to add that to the runlevel (if yer using gentoo) or edit the config files to make runlevel 5 default.
