I got a Zalman CNPS56000 (I think), It is pretty quiet, altough my CPU temp reaches like 70*C. I changed the cooling paste, The cooler is properly mounted. Maybe the thermal sensor is defective.
The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP1800+, not overclocked.
Also, make sure the rest of the components is silent. My CPU fan is very silent, but the VGA card has a defective cooler, and the HDD makes alot of noise (Leadtek GeForce 4 mx440, and Seagate 13.6gb)
