Hmm! Serious heat problems.

edited March 2005 in Hardware
So, my PC spontaneously rebooted today. I go into my motherboard settings afterwards, and find that the CPU Overheating Protection kicked in. It was at 91.6C!. Needless to say, I turned it off. I'm going to get a better heatsink/fan, a new case fan as well as some Arctic Silver thermal paste on Monday. Any recommendations on CPU heatsink/fans? I'm planning on going with a Vantec Tornado 5700RPM (84 CFM air flow) for a case fan.

  • Is it in a confined space? It helps if air can get into the case from the back

Perhaps vacuum the computer out, including all the crap inside the heatsink? :P

I have done that, and several times prior, so I doubt that's the problem. I'm heading out to get the new stuff in about a hour.

  • Just look around. If you find something good, and funds allow, then get it. Post how it works later...
