TEmp. Problems Solved!!!

edited March 2005 in Hardware
Well, today I picked up a ThermalTake Volcano 12 CPU fan w/ a speed controller, a Vantec Thermoflow Temperature Sensing case fan, and some Arctic Silver thermal paste. In all it cost me $70, but I think in the long run it'll be worth it. The CPU fan cost $45 + tax CAD, but now my processor temperature is staying between 40 - 50C, instead of 75 - 90C.

  • how loud is that some bitch fan
  • Case fan - near silent. CPU fan is near silent on lowest RPM (2000), but when I crank it up to max at some 5000RPM, it turns into one loudass mofo.

  • My fan runs @ ~2083rpm and the temp never exceeds 47*C, and the thing is near silent
  • Heh, well I like noise (I can't sleep without a certain level of jumbled noise for some reason).
Not to mention my tower is in a tight corner.

  • About fan speeds...is HWiNFO reporting my fan speed wrong? It says 14835 RPM or something like that. I just looked at it, it doesn't look like nearly 15000 RPM, and I don't feel like turning it off to find out. :P

Come to think of it, HWiNFO's sensors might be wrong, on my friend's brother's PC it says 491F for one of the temperatures. :| I think it was the case.
  • That's a bug in HWInfo. The other temps seem to be correct.
  • Yeah, but I don't think my processor fan is running at nearly 15000 RPM. It's also reporting a case fan, tho I don't have one, unless it means my PS fan.
  • It reports my CPU fan corectly at 4500RPM. :P
  • I can sleep throuhg anything so noise doesnt bother me, so long as my temp stays how it is.
  • HWINfo (or any Windows program) is usually off on my temp. by a few degrees, but the Fan speeds are correct (Right now it's on max since I'm playing ET, so it's reading at 5250RPM).
