Tecra 8100 TV-Out

edited April 2005 in Hardware
I just bought a toshiba tecra 8100 laptop. It has tv out in the form of a 3.5mm socket. I cannot tell by looking at it how many connectors are inside, and it is not in the manual. does anyone know if this is the standard Sony 4 pole 3.5mm to 3 RCA lead like used in camcoreders etc, or is it just Mono headphone type plug to 1 composite video out? Or even worse some weird connector made to look like a normal one by toshiba!

  • You have probably got one of the early AV connectors on your laptop, which was used on most Video8 camcorders in the early 1990s. Find one of these on eBay, and see if that works. But before you do, could you describe the port in more detail?
  • Most websites that I have seen say that it is a 4 pole 3.5mm (not the nonsense that I posted), which connects to 3 RCA (1 composite, and 2 audio) leads. However, I'm not sure. Check a few websites, and see what you come up with.
