DEC OSF/1

Hi Gang,

Has anyone been able to get the versions of OSF/1 running on real MIPS hardware (or GXemul)?

I booted 2.0 on my DECsystem 5000/133. The kernel seemed to load OK but it crapped out with:

>>boot 3/rz5/vmunix
Mips boot: memory from 0x605000 to 0x1fff000
Kernel virtual space from 0xc0004000 to 0xffa00000.

Seems to suggest a dead RTC battery, try replacing it and see if that works.

  • Hi, cheers. Yes I saw that.. would that bork the kernel booting though?

I have since butchered the Dallas chip and fitted an external battery.

I haven't tried to boot OSF/1 since but the conaole didnt seem to want to store environment variables.. didnt spend much time with it though.. will revisit.
