From what I can gather, there's some bug in the 95 RTM floppy install that prevents it from accepting serials (including legit ones) so it is impossible to install without a workaround. OP would like to know how to perform this workaround. Here it is, from the corresponding Library page:
You may also override the install type (no serial needed) by creating a file name MSBATCH.INF with the lines "[Setup]", and then "ProductType=1", placing that in the Win95 setup folder, and then running setup.
You might also need to add the line: “CCP=0”. That tells it not to be an upgrade version. The standard floppy set is an upgrade version.
But I have always had weird issues with doing that on the floppy upgrade. I’d recommend you use the files from the CD version instead. Or just feed it a serial. Nothing checks the serial after installation.
