Does anyone know of a way to run new software on XP? For example, Win 98 has KernelEX and W2K has a similar project by Blackwingcat. In any case, I'm curious if such mods (if that's what you want to call them) exist for XP.
Some of this stuff may be too hot for WinWorld though. And not nearly as well documented as blackwingcat's 2000 upgrades.
You may be better off with the 2000 extended kernel set to Vista compatibility.
You're probably right. I'm much more familiar with getting new software to run on W2K. I just like to try and run new software on old OSes. I view it as a challenge.

There's something called "one-core API" that is supposed to extend the kernel of XP and 2003 to support NT 6.x software.

Excellent. I'll have to see if I can get it working. Thanks.

Alky for Applications will let you run Vista programs on Windows XP
