Windows 7 EOL

  • As far as Windows 7 goes, I liked it in spite of being anything but a fan of Microsoft. I tested 8, 8.1 and 10. The ads and constant changes, plus telemetry just turned me off bad. The adding of Telementry to 7 hurt it on my brother's laptop too. I just quit running Windows as my main OS ages ago and don't regret it. Not to say that Linux doesn't have issues and problems, but MS is insane as far as my needs go.

  • And you wonder why they're still in business despite what they've done.

Besides, I wasn't aware that 7 had telemetry updates. I don't have to worry about that, do I?

  • If you're worried about telemetry in Windows 10, then yes, you should. But you can try running simplewall and block all system executables.

  • I started phasing out Windows and phasing in Linux back in 2004. By 2008, when I had the 98se/2k drive on my then main computer die, I could live without it. No regrets. I understand if others stay with Windows, but I was able to pass.
