These service packs (and likely most hotfixes) are blocked from installing on Datacenter Server, where the OEM was to provide all support and updates. A patched update.exe will allow them to install.

The Windows 2000 Extended Core breaks the hardware limits of "lesser" editions so that use case for Datacenter is gone anyway.

I have installed Windows 2000 Pro (''NT 5.0'' 5.00.2128.1 Pro RC2) but when I launch Service Pack 1 or 2, I get error: The version of W2000 you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install. What is the matter?

Does anybody have other language versions of Windows 2000 Security Rollup 1 (KB891861)?
Only the English version is available for download from Microsoft in 2024.
