(REQUEST) IBM Operating System/2 1.x Standard and Extended Editions on 5.25" Floppies

WinWorld already has the following versions of IBM's Operating System/2:

  • 1.0 Standard Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.0 Standard Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.0 Extended Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.1 Standard Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.1 Extended Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.2 Standard Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.2 Extended Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.3 Standard Edition on 3.5" floppies.
  • 1.3 Extended Edition on 3.5" floppies.

Which versions of that "better DOS than DOS, better Windows than Windows" I want uploaded on WinWorld?

  • 1.0 Extended Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.1 Standard Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.1 Extended Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.2 Standard Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.2 Extended Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.3 Standard Edition on 5.25" floppies.
  • 1.3 Extended Edition on 5.25" floppies.

Comments

  • Don't take the existence of that granted.

Especially 1.x versions were optimized for the PS/2 line of computers, so it could be that there's a 3.5" floppy drive as hardware requirement. The 5.25" drive was sold as expensive legacy peripheral for these systems.

While 1.0 still tried to be an advanced DOS, 1.2+ tried to be the reason to buy a PS/2. Because IBM behaved like that during the PS/2 era. Around 1992 IBM recognized that their PS/2 will not build a monopoly and it might be good to sell OS/2 to others, too.
