Corrupted audio

Hi,
I am using an Windows 2K professional SP4 from this site with VMware player (non-commercial). However, whenever a sound can be heard, it sounds disorted and slowed down, unless its directly played trough \Media. I also had this issue with an old Windows XP VM. Any way to fix this?
Also, if my English is bad then im sorry.

Little update: The error fixed itself randomly. Was it rendering the files correctly or something?

All I know is that is a known issue with VMWare. I don't know what the current workaround or fixes are. I'd just try different versions of compatible audio drivers to see if something worked. Seems very strange that it would just fix itself.
