Actually, IntelliPoint 1.1 was first released in 1995.

IntelliPoint was actually unrelated to the branding of the IntelliMouse. it was part of Microsoft Hardware rebranding there software discsthat added extra features to the existing Windows Windows 9X/NT4/5 control panels the keyboards were bundled with Intellitype that enabled the extra keys ands\added extra functions. most of the featuresfrom the driver later migrate to the basic control panel like Sonar where hitting control makes your pointer ping.
