A "flippy" disk is a 5.25" floppy disk that you flip over in order to read the second side. This was common on the Apple II and other systems that had only single sided floppy drives. Early IBM PCs shipped with single sided drives, but were quickly upgraded to double sided floppy drives, which make use of the second side without flipping. As such, very few IBM PC titles used "flippy" disks.
