I want to run Excel 4 and 5

Hello. I got some Excel solutions I created on Excel 5 which ran on Windows 3.1 around 1997 - that I want to demo for a retro presentation. I'm on a Windown Pro 64-bit. Can someone talk me through setting up a VM? I can see there are a lot of 'gotchas' when trying to set up such old software. eg. AM I right in thinking that I need to install DOS 6 and then Windows 3.1? and will my Surface Laptop 3 be ok for this?
Any ideas appreciated.

    Which OS to use may depend on what bits these "solutions" interface with, but Excel 4 and 5 will also run under 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP-32 bit. In theory they should even run under Windows 10 32-bit. Unless you are going after an authentic 3.1 experience, you might seriously consider either Windows 98SE or XP. Those will usually give you less headaches and more functionality such as networking.
