[Offer] MasterModeller v2.2 for IBM PC (SCP, IMG) [5.25]

MasterModeller v2.2 for IBM PC

This is a financial modelling software for the IBM PC



It seems to be copy protected, firstly the startup disk has unusual track format. Secondly when I run the program from the original disk (or a copy), I get an error message stating "invalid disk". Strangely the documentation states you should make backup copies of the disks but they also mention that some version have a RS-232 dongle, which is missing from my package.

    Would you please re-dump MasterModeller 2.2 - Startup [5.25] more 3-4 times?
    Your dump seems to be problem on Startup disk.
    There seems to be no problem except Startup disk.
  • ibmpc5150, what exactly seemed to be the issue? I've only had time to glance at it, but it seemed to decode ok in hxc.

    Look the track / sector info on tartup disk carefully.

    I also include the scan of the introduction manual. The main user manual is spiral bound (156 pages) and is a pain to scan. I will do it later.

    If you open the back page (occasionally it is the front page depending how they installed the spiral), you will see where each side of the spiral meets. I carefully pull each prong apart (or whatever the correct word for it is) three at a time, just enough to let a few pages out.

    Sort of like this:


    The key is to pull three at a time with equal force so as not to twist the spiral. I just use my fingernails for this, but you might find some other tool that works better for you.

    Then when all are undone enough, you should be able to pull out somewhere around 20 or 30 pages or so at a time. Don't open them any wider.

    For your sanity, keep track of which direction the spiral was installed, and which pages you remove first - as those will be the last when you put it back together. Of course, keep the pages in order.

    Putting the spiral back together can be a bit tricky to get started as it will want to twist around a lot. But once you get the first group of pages in (remember those were the last few you removed) with the prongs through the page holes, then it is usually smooth sailing from there. Add pages like you removed them, a small group (perhaps ~20 or 30 or so) at a time.

    Keep an eye out for any pages that didn't line up and go through properly.

    Once the pages are back in, (it will be open to the last or first page like it was earlier) press the prongs back together three at a time.

    Might take a little getting used to, but I've gotten fairly good at it.

  • I finally got a chance to look at the disk image - it actually works perfectly in PCE, but a written copy fails the protection check on real hardware.

  • Well, given the nature of the visible parts of the protection, I would suspect it may have to do with copies not having the same "splice" at the index mark. We have run in to that with some other copy protected titles. PCE just fills in whatever was in the original dump so the results would look identical to the software.

    Although I'm still a little puzzled why your original didn't run. Given the 1984 date it could easily have problems on anything other than a genuine 4.77mhz IBM PC.
