Delphi 7.x licensing requirements
Hi, I'm new here so hope this is going to the correct forum.
Question is what are the restrictions on using old unsupported software like Delphi 7.x or earlier?
Is it free to use or is there a license fee to be paid - I see that there are licence keys freely available but are they legal.
Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this.

These bits are preserved here for historical preservation. They are up on a pedestal for you to gawk at, observe any unique ideas, and possibly repair genuine media. While The bits on this site can help one out of a bind, such as converting an old format or recompiling and old program, while worrying about tough licensing later, it is up to you to determine if that is acceptable compliance or not.
To obtain a license, you would have to consult the documentation for the product. This is different for every product. In some cases buying physical media and manuals off of eBay may grant a license, in others buying a current version of a product may be sufficient. Others may require some kind of support contract with the current company.
In many cases, it is simply not possible to obtain a license. That is rancid bullshit, but that is the way it is.
