i want to replace dos 7.1

so i got a windows 98 computer, and it was from free geek, and it had freedos on it. i want to replace the version of dos thats installed on windows 98 (msdos 7.1) with the already installed freedos. can someone help me

What is the question ?
Do you want to install msdos 7.1 only ? (without 98 gui)
Do you wan to re-install freeDos ?

In either case, download:
https://archive.org/details/ms-dos-7.10_202301
or
https://archive.org/details/fd-13

then make a dosBoot CD or floppy; boot your computer with it; say "sys c:" ; make directory "dos" on c:\; copy autoexec.bat and config.sys to c:\; add path=c:\dos to autoexec.bat; copy all dos files into c:\dos

reboot from hard-drive; adjust config.sys and autoexec.bat as to your taste

So you want to use Windows 98 on top of Freedos instead of MS-DOS 7.1. That is simply not possible. It won't work.
