SomeGuy, no, the English version did not have copy protection.
In the late 80s, only French Microsoft software was copy protected (I think it was an initiative of Microsoft France, for example, WinWord 1.10/1.10a,Word 4.00, Excel 2.10, etc).

I'm aware of at least two different label designs for the English-American MP 4.20.
Theoretically, the software itself can also differ (or don't).

I installed it on HDD.
