Windows NT 3.1 "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" error after installing disks 1-9

edited March 23 in Software
I am installing Windows NT 3.1 on VMware 17.5 with 64 MB of RAM and 1 GB of storage. However, after installing the first 9 disks, it boots with a blue screen and an error code saying "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE", please restart your computer. (I already tried restarting and same issue occurred) I looked online for a solution and the most frequent answer was to change the position of the hard drive from 1:1 to 0:0 (which it is in 0:0).

Please close this discussion. You have to set the hard drive controller to IDE, and to avoid the "Windows cannot install on this processor" error, choose Windows 3.1 when choosing the OS.
