The copy protection was based on a system hidden file in the root of drive C:
5 installs per floppy set... but unhide the hidden system file, duplicate it... tricked the copy protection out as uninstalling the program from the hard disk increased the number of available installs on the floppy set. This was no rocket science.
We used it in school. Same very basic copy protection for the whole IBM assistant series, btw. This was a very basic software suite. Title underlining for example did not underline spaces between the words in the title. Nowadays even the most simple text editors have more advanced features than writing assistant except maybe vi or edlin. ;-)
