[OFFER] Microsoft Excel 2.0 (1987-09-20) (Preview Edition) [English] (5.25''-1.2 MB)

Somebody upload to Internet Archive. Software found in an unlabeled set of floppy disks; it appears to be complete. An attempt was made to contribute it to Beta Archive, but without success, as it is a third-party copy of the original media. Leaving this here, as I can't find any existence of it online.

  • Interesting. At a glance anyway, it appears to be what it claims. (A different build of the binary). It would be good to know more about where it came from.
  • Hi, I’m the person who uploaded these to the Internet Archive, and here’s a bit more context: The disks came from an Italian eBay seller who was listing a copy of Windows 1.03 in Italian. Alongside that, there were five anonymous 5.25" floppy disks. My main goal was just to preserve the Italian Windows 1.03 copy, but while I had them, I backed up these additional floppies using my GreaseWeazle. I tried installing them on a virtual machine and discovered they contained a preview version. I searched online to find their origin but couldn’t track it down. I then tried uploading them to BetaArchive; I thought they might be rejected, but they were accepted in the end. I decided to keep them on the Internet Archive as well. This is all I know about the origin of these floppies. I’m glad to know they might be useful to someone, especially since their original fate would have been to be formatted and used for restoring other software in my collection :who_me:
  • Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for archiving those. You never know what you might find on crufty user created disks.
