Here's my question:

I have an A64 machine, and 2003 for A64s. I also have 2003 for x86 so, which?

Here they are, side by side:

2003 A64
  • Fully supports A64
  • L-g-l
  • Beta software with known bugs
  • I have it now

2003 x86
  • Supports SSE/SSE2, etc, etc EXCEPT A64
  • Not so lgl
  • Final software with some bugs, but nothing severe like A64s
  • Can get it sortof easily

I posted this in Support because I want genunine opinions and facts, not off topic crap.

Thanx.

  • I guess if you have a fast A64 and 1Gig of RAM, better to use A64 version, cuz x86 doesnot support most modern A64 extensions...
  • Don't say it, you know who you are, don't.

We'll I'm on the x8664 version now, and I'm checking it out.

  • I may get 2003 x86 if this gets too annoying, because there are somethings missing (Like IE), but nothing too severe yet. Opn With is here, unlike on Xp x8664 which was missing that.

  • Id wait until svr2003 x64 is in a full release before you use it. Its better to have software to take full advatnage of your 64bit cpu but it sounds like theres tons missing in svr2k3 x64.
  • Of the 5 directories in Program Files, 4 are empty.

IE, OE, and WMP are all missing.

This is a strange beta, it's very usable, but very lacking...

  • Its known as "exploring the unknown".... it shouldnt really concern anyone if he uses a beta OS, since next week he'll be on a different one.
  • You need to change your interpretation. "IE, OE, and WMP are all missing." != 'whining'.

    And

getting pissed over about other peoples systems, that you have NO connexion to = retarded.

  • wasn't longhorn supposed to be the workstation version of server 2k3? It just got pushed so far back? So in essence tomchu is right using 2k3 beta is like using longhorn.
  • Install both and decide what's better to you.
  • Longhorns not even beta yet. the x64s are.

And Q, I'd play with XPx64 more, since its more complete.
  • Will there be 2000 for x64s...?

  • I heard that Blackcomb is still out there, no builds compiled, and its set for release on 2010.

  • Since they say 2010, expect it to be out on shelves 2020. If microsoft is in business still.

  • Are there any early alphas of Blackcomb??
  • I think that MS would try and get Longhorn to a very stabe stage, and then I think that MS will start on Blackcomb.
Though I think that I am wrong...
  • Maybe, Longhorn even won't be NT 6.0. MS want to ditch some new things from it to release it faster, they may release it as NT 5.3 or something...
