windows 2003 silence

i just finished installing windows 2003 on my brothers comp. the only problem is that the sounds doesnt work, this makes no sense cuz when he had win XP on it the sound worked fine

any ideas?

upgrade the sound drivers, maybe the current XP drivers dont work for 2003.

Enable Windows Audio service, run DXDIAG and set sound acceleration to maximum.

i have enabled it im not that dumb, it shouldnt need drivers worked without any in XP

All XP drivers will work in 2003. That's for sure.

First think about it better. And make sure it's driver's fault. Only then install XP.

ive got the same problem agen, with my server this time, ive looked through all the driver lists in device manager and it seems that there are NO drivers for SB16 (which should work as it did in 2k, NT and XP)

anyone know whrer i can find these?

SB16... everything should be able to detect and use that... Everything 98+ anyways. Wonder if you can copy XP's driver.cab and put it into 2003....

Maybe some jumpers on MB disable the sound.
So read documentation.
