Unix in Windows

edited September 2004 in Software
I have been surfing on the net to find programs that have been converted from Unix to Windows. Well I've found more then just that. Like running the whole system though Windows. Kinda like WINE in Linux but reversed.

Heres the list of ports I found

CYGWIN
CoLinux
WinLinux

They're all great but WinLinux and CoLinux lacks software and other tools. CYGWIN is the best out of them. Theres also a port for DOS called DJGPP. Sadly that turned into a Windows based port and some say it turned into CYGWIN.

If your wondering yes you can run X-Windows with most of these.

  • I've seen that. Haven't tried them yet.

I usually run some on WAKKO to test them out.
  • So
i can't really say that coLinux is good as
Kinda like WINE in Linux but reversed.
it is young project and it is not an usual emulator at all
it is better to say a peculiar Linux kernel wich workes as a process of NT systems
so, theoretcally it is possible to install an any distro on it.

but Cygwin is a quite other thing
    it is really wine reversed
    and i change this one
