anyone ever try this? i got instrested about what i could do so i tried it.
i can set some settings and shit, but thats about it. nothing really to set tho.
SHELL i know you did this. How can you change the readout (you made it say shellnet)

Woah, you've telneted in your LaserJet? I got a LJ4 Plus, can someone tell me howto get into it? I want to change the readout too. It's on LPT1.

Find out it's IP address, then open up a DOS prompt, and type "telnet 192.168.x.x" where x.x is it's actual IP.

Duff you cant telent into yours cuz your not running a jetdirect card in it.
Nor can you change the readout.

Damn it. I can probably get a JetDirect card, then I could put the printer somewhere else in the house or room.

Not sure you need BOOTP in there, I'm pretty sure you do DHCP...

Both disabled, static IP at 192.168.0.7

You know C@H has one of them, but it's on 192.168.1.25, so we can't use it/fix it!

Anyway this isn't accomplished using Telnet, but rather an HP util with some irksome Java popup messages.
