FireFox and AdAware question

edited November 2004 in Software
I use Internet Explorer almost all the time but I've been trying FireFox
more and more. I got ready this morning by running AdAware and
found 16 new instances and deleted them. They were all in
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\ something.
I meant to run FireFox for 24 hours but I needed something a while ago
so I ran AdAware before I opened Internet Explorer and found 36 new
instances and they were all in HKEY\ something maybe classes.
It had lists of visited sites and several other things. I deleted them so
I can't go back and look. I never saw anything like that.
What the devil is that?

  • Do you know what the subdirectories were under \D&S\Onwer\ were? if you could remember that would help, I think. I beleive AdAware automatically stores backups of the things it removes. If you're using AdAware SE, click on the padlock icon up top and see what it lists.

I can't remember now, I'll have to do it again. I thought it might be
why AdAware isn't your first choice at first but I hadn't had this
before with the old AdAware. It messed up and I uninstalled it and
installed the latest version before this. It looked like FireFox was
writing to my registry. I'll do it again later and get some screenshots
    and more info.

  • I don't really think that crap was made by FFX...
  • OK. Actually AAW isn't my favorite just because it's commercial, and hence they want money for all the options &c, but Spybot is free and always full-featured, same with SwB. I don't think AAW is bad, but I just think other things are better then it, so I don't really have a problem with ppl who use it because of that.

I'll be interested to see what's going on when you post the screenshots.
