  • Oops. I mean Product Identification Numbers.
  • You mean something like 21197-OEM-0023772-86305?
  • "Product Identification Numbers" ?

What, exactly, are these used for? That will let us know what you are after.

  • I don't think the serial numbers in Windows 95 were actually used.

At least not in the first versions. My First Edition copy (on CD) doesn't need one (it has the field, but I cant just click [NEXT] or whatever is has; but my copy of OSR 2.5 (C) on CD-ROM needs one.
  • Thank you! This is most helpful... Let me write that number down. I didn't think the serial numbers were used either until I had to enter one.
  • my 95b needs a serial key
  • Mine should work. AFAIK, all OSR2 releases use the OEM key.
  • yeh OSR2 was never sold on its own, you had to buy a computer to get it
  • Was 95C sold separately, non-OEM then?
  • OSR 2.x where OEM only, they only came with computers
  • It works! Thank you.
  • I dont know if anyone else knows this trick but when windows ask for the product key enter this number 111-1111111. the last 7 digits must add to amultiple of 7. (the 111-1111111) is the developers key and works with all versions of windows-i dont know about eXPerience though never used it yet.
  • ???

I thought the xxx-xxxxxxx form was only for original 95 and 3.11.
  • 000-0000000 works too.
  • Or 111-1111111
  • Guest 5 already said that...
