Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 for Solaris

edited January 2005 in Software
I uploaded it to http://ie.h14.ru/ (it can not be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/unix/ie/default.asp any more)

two files:
http://ie.h14.ru/ie5setup.part1.rar
http://ie.h14.ru/ie5setup.part2.rar

it works only with SPARC-Solaris, but not with x86 etc

x86-UNIX users can run win-version of IE with wine

• Whats minimum requirements for Solaris 8?
• I have two old SparcStation IPX's....
• I have two old SparcStation IPX's....

ill take one!
• Need the special monitor tho...
• O that weird thing with the 3 coax lines in it?

• C@H had one of those, but we hadn't the slightest idea what it was for, so we ditched it.

• Funny to hear that M$ developed their browser for Solaris...
Waiting for IE for linux!
• They'll never do that now.

BTW, if you look @ the copyrights to IE, it says the Solaris version was copyright by "Mainsoft". The 1st time I read that I thought something was really wrong!

-Q
• Then why they did it for Solaris? And is there some IE for Mac?
• Yea, in OS X. But safari is waaaay better.
• ANd you can uninstall IE by dragging it to the Trash. LOL

! That's what I like most of all !
• AND there was an option to DISABLE ACTIVEX! That was something amazzing to see in an IE...

-Q
• Uhhh.... You can do that in Windows also :-)
• By unchecking 1 box in IEs Options?

-Q
• That's becuase it's the mac.tard version. It's designed to be user friendly.

It takes only like five clicks in IE's security settings.
• WTF, you're really desperate to make Macs look bad.

And if you mean changing security zones, I don't think that disables ActiveX.

-Q
• i think that jsut disables unsigned ones
• If it what I think he's talking about, that just prevents installation of new controls (Provided its set like that).

Internet Explorer for UNIX

We sincerely apologize, but Internet Explorer technologies for UNIX are no longer available for download. Visit the Internet Explorer Web site for more information on Internet Explorer.

For Support options, visit the Internet Explorer for UNIX newsgroups at news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.p ... lorer.unix.
• But there WERE IE technologies for Unix! HaH!
They werent popular, that was the main reason to stop later development and support.
• Why in the hell would you want to run IE that has destroyed windows in linux????
• That's what I'm trying to figure out :?

Why not just run Mozilla or Netscape. There were Linux ports and most distros had them built in.
• And why only SPARC? That alone severely limits the amout of use it'd see...

-Q
• Just for fun. It's nice to see the suckest browser on earth in Linux! :)
• I HATE this SUCKEST Browser
for what Microsoft make IE for Solaris?
