  • there was a floppy version of NT 4?
  • I think there was. As there was a floppy version of 98 with 72 floppys.

When you bought Windows on CD, sometimes the retail versions had coupons. You mail them money for shipping with the coupon and they send you the floppy version.
  • i want windows XP or Windows Longhorn 4074: the floppy version.

    I can picture it now!

Please insert Disk 447 of 514.
  • ^ how long do you think it would to install xp or LH with 514 disks???
  • well...i dont know...

most likely a couple of hours or days
  • Pending it uses a 1.68MB format, it would take 416 to install Longhorn 4074 which is just over 700MB.

If MS did a floppy coupon deal, you would be paying more than Longhorn in CD just for MS to ship the floppies.
  • you would get a 26 pound box of floppies.
  • Interesting how large is that box? And how to take it home?
  • Back to the subject, I'm not sure I've ever seen NT 4 come on floppies. I think even NT 3.1 came on CD ROM.

  • I think it came on floppies too. So did NT 3.5, notice how all the disk ID files are in the archive?
  • Hmm, true. Speaking of which, I've got some RARs to update.

    -Q
  • DISK*.W files on NT 3.5 were possibly taken from floppies
  • I just found out that NT 4 did come out with a floppy version, but I haven't found person yet who has it. Sorry....
  • It came in a 12 flopy version... but the flopy version floped :chocobo3:

Anyway....so what would be the purpose of a floppy version of something when you could use the CD and the boot floppies, especially when the minimum requirements are describing a machine that would most likely have a cd drive.
