Which PHP version is better?

I need to know which PHP version is better -- 4.3.10 or 5... My buddy wants to use php 5 but I keep telling him to use php 4.3.10.... I need your help in deciding.....

    I don't know much but, if it's going to be running phpBB, 4 seems to be better for now. Other then that, I know nothing.

    it depends what you're using it for. I think some things like phpbb doesnt work without modification on 5.

    phpBB only works in PHP 4.X. PHP 5 will work when phpBB 2.2 comes out.

    go for PHP 4.3. It's compatable with alot of stuff.

    You just need to tweak it.

    It won't work out of the box until phpBB 2.2.

    This is really helpful. I'm trying to help Zenithus out with Hurst Un-Limited and he is having problems with his php5. He is an advanced PHP coder and he is starting to regret installing php5. Keep talking.... I'm waiting for more opinions.

    I have my webserver using PHP4 and PHP5. I have PHP5 setup to use PHP5 scripts only. Werid thing is PHP5 doesn't really like PHP4 or PHP3 scripts very well. I couldn't get phpBB to work with PHP5. Basicly I were you just stay with PHP4.

    So I say you stay with php 4.x this will help you to avoid much problems with compatibility... most of stuff is made for 4.x...
