On my motherboard there is only 1 USB header

and I have a floppy drive with a built in card reader, which uses this, however i want to be able to use the USB ports on the front of my case, which also use this header, is there any way of adding another header or something?

  • Get a cheap USB hub and rewire everything.
Heres a pinout of the USB connector:

You can use duct tape to tape the hub internals to the inside of your case.

what? and ruin the nice finish of my
  • You tape it on the inside. What finish?

Plus it's only on the inside.
  • yea, but tape = glue residue = dust even though there is a dust filter

  • I have broken something now and it makes no sense. When i plug the card reader into the USB header, or when i plug in the ports on the front then something (i was using my MP3 player) and boot up the machines the CD drives dont work and the device that is connected doesnt work :? the device isnt recognised when i plug in things to the ports on the front either

EDIT: the 4 other USB ports on the back work fine, if that helps

Yup. And my suggestion to you is to sit the fuck down. :)
I was never standing up :P
  • The grammar Nazi who says "Them people are retarded" and thinks it's even half-assed correct.
  • It is. Its in the dictionary. Just like "ain't" is now a word.
  • Ain't is a word becuase it's used by so many rednecks.
  • Word of advice: Don't go saying things like "Them people are retards, ain't they?" at any higher caliber (read:more than $7 an hour) job interview.
  • That would be incorrect because "ain't" is a contraction for am not.

    So I see your point.
  • And them is wrong grammaticaly.

  • I'll just say what M-W.com says.

    Merriam-Webster Says:
    Main Entry: ain't
    Pronunciation: 'Ant
    Etymology: contraction of are not
1 : am not : are not : is not
    2 : have not : has not
3 : do not : does not : did not -- used in some varieties of Black English
usage Although widely disapproved as nonstandard and more common in the habitual speech of the less educated, ain't in senses 1 and 2 is flourishing in American English. It is used in both speech and writing to catch attention and to gain emphasis
