hey guys,

I recently just installed ms vista on my friends computer. He was using it for a few days and has lots of data (almost 100gb in only 3 days :? ). His little brother was stupid enough to delete some of the not so important system files, although this does disable certain feature in vista. I was wondering is tehre anyway in vista, i can run a system file check, then it repairs these files off the windows cd? sfc /scannow just flashes on and off the screen like it were some incompatible dos app in xp.

Browse the disk and find any files on the disk but not on your hd and replace them.

run sfc from cmd, that way you'll see any error messages.

Is System Restore enabled? Would that work?

PS. Alternately, you can try SFC.

yea couldnt be f'ed. sr didnt work for some reason thanks anyway. SFc didnt fix shit. so i just formatted.
