ms-dos 4.01 5.25 floppy install wont read

i have a full set of ms-dos 4.01 all the disks read exept for ms-dos shell(that dosnt worry me) and install is there some way do fix them.

What error do you get and what is it that's giving you the error (Windows? DOS install?)?

the error is somthing like "genral reading falure reading drive A:" and its from dos install

you can use norton utilities to try and repair the diskette file system

does it destroy files on the disk when it fixes them

Destroying files is not what I'd call "fixing them".
I'm not familiar with Norton for DOS, but I'd think it'd say something like "Proceeding will cause irreversible change, [Y/N]?"

It lets you save a copy of the changed data such that it can put the diskette back in the state it found it in
