Now why would you say that?
  • Doesn't OS/2 run windows applications?
  • Wasn't the 1.x line of OS/2 just a command prompt?

  • Oh sorry, i though you were refering to the 2.0 version. Sorry my bad.
  • 1.3 had a nice shell and some integrated GUI apps. The shell had more in common with windows 2.x than windows 3.x
  • warp 2.0 was the one that had similarities with 3.1 wasn;t it?
  • Windows 3.0 in OS/2 2.0, and Windows 3.1 in OS/2 2.1

Edit: Here's a link rather than answer one line questions on it

  • I do recall someone (Probably me!) saying that the version #s were "One-upped".

  • with OS/2 1.3 i was going to install it on virtual pc but it said invalid country setting in country.sys so i put it on my 486dx4 100mhz 16mb ram
and it installed fine (my 486 is where my old os's get put)
  • It won't run in a VPC because it does not run on a PCI bus (which VPC emulates).
  • Thats not true.

You can install MS OS/2 1.30.1 in Parallels Workstation.
The complete installation won't start in the Parallels Workstation.
But you can convert the Paralles HD-image into VPC HD-image.
The VPC 2004 MS OS/2 1.30.1 runs fine.

1.0 was a command line/text-mode menu. 1.1 and up had GUIs.

  • yeh OS/2 1.3 looks a bit like win 3.0 but it looks more like windows 2.0 with the windows 3.0 colour sceme
  • It's more closely resembled to 2.0.
  • this is the first OS/2 ive ever had and it was alright but i reackon that OS/2 2.0 would probably be better
