Vetusware .... ?

I found this site called Vetusware before I found this site while searching for DOS images. From the looks of the site it seems to have a few disk images that aren't up here, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to download anything. When I click the download button it registers it as downloaded in my "today's downloads" section but doesn't actually start a download.
The site seems old as hell, I mean, that last blog post was in 2006, but I did see some comments on some of the files from Feb. 2010 so it seems like the downloads should still work.
Have any of you visited this site? Maybe know how it works?
If not I might just try to get around it but my skill in that area is lim->0.

  • this is the first ive ever heard of it.... it appears to have more than we do... but its also alot more confusing to use.

when i tried to download windows 95 it didnt even start... so its something with their site. and it looks like they might require registration??
  • Wow, someone around here who likes Pokemon, that's new. Welcome to this place?

  • DSL and cable? Awesome.
  • Ka0s; yeah but even so I can't get the downloads to work. :p
Butcher; Thanks for the tip. Do you know if you can redownload something you've "downloaded" that day? Maybe I can just spam the button until it works..

Yup! Love it. :D Just started a new game on Pokemon Sapphire, in fact. And thanks.

EDIT: Oh hm, think you have to change your password before it lets you download. Strange. Now I'm getting an error instead of it silently failing at least.

  • I figured it might be an IE thing, [not so] sadly I'm on Linux, and don't really have IE working. I could try my XP VM I guess.
  • Vetusware, last I remember it, got a lot of their collection from the old winworld.

Now, I could be wrong on this one but the impression that I got was none of the downloads were tested. Some of them were corrupt archives, I've heard one or two even had a virus in it. They harvest from a ton of other sites and don't really investigate.

This is just what I have heard though (and seen once or twice). I would just check out the archive before you willy nilly install.
  • Yeah I'm only installing to VMs, so no harm done if one screws up. Thanks for the warning.

I remember someone on here a long time ago advertised that site on this fourm. And yeah, there was quite a few of their downloads that had a virus in them (typical start.exe ones from old wraez downloads).
  • wasn't start.exe purityscan?

IS THERE HIDDEN PORNOGRAPHY ON YOUR COMPUTER?!??!?! Yes, yes there is, and i know where it all is so don't feel the need to tell me. I don't want it removed either.
  • It's been around for over 4 or 5 years as I got a few things from there years ago, but then found winworld and actually had working files.
  • Yeah I give up on them, too much hassle for a gamble.
Back to refining Google search queries. :p
